The Pereslavl Railway Museum incorporates the remaining part of the former huge narrow gauge network near the town of Pereslavl-Zalessky in the Yaroslavl Region. The 2½ kilometer branch line of 750 mm gauge runs from the village of Talitsy to a scenic clearing in the middle of the famous Bludovo bog. This is the bog which will be familiar to many people from their school days from Michael Prishvin's fairytale "The Sun's Pantry"
Located in the depot and on the little railway station at Talitsy we have a collection of locomotives, carriages and railway paraphernalia from the 19th to the middle of the 20th century. There are also other exhibits of the past - non railway machines and equipment. Three steam locomotives, two diesels, a selection of railway carriages and wagons, several railcars and a number of automobiles are restored to working order and occasionally may be seen in action.
Pereslavl Railway Museum is a member of FEDECRAIL and NERHT, takes active part in international railway heritage collaboration. The museum team participates in historic research, publishing of books and articles on Russian railway history.
